Having true love for the Messenger ﷺ is a divine command, and cultivating this love such that he ﷺ becomes more beloved to one than one’s own self was described by the Prophet ﷺ as the hallmark of true faith. None displayed this love for him ﷺ more than the best of generations, the Companions.
